As part of the DirecTV moving promotion, I upgraded to an HR54 and C61K 4K Genie in anticipation of buying a new high end 4K UHD TV in a few months. The 4K Genie worked on a 5 yr old 70" 1080p Sharp perfectly for about a week, then could no longer with errors complaining the TV isn't 4K. That sure is odd that it could work initially then suddenly become incompatible. (It was installed by an AT&T/DTV technician who warned me this could be a problem later on but didn't know why).
All I can think of is it may have received a firmware update which became a 1080p kill switch for some reason. Anyone have a better explanation?
