Terminate TAPS?

I am working on a very small cable system, DOCSIS 3.0. The total number of modems is approximately 130. We have 16 DS 256 QAM channels and 8 US 64 QAM. We lay out the taps at several locations and when the event is over we pick them up. I have seen several different theories or advice on terminating the unused ports on the TAPS. When i log into the CMTS and look at the noise floor coming back from the modems, it is usually around the -35 area. There are some in the group that feel if we terminate unused ports on the taps, we could get even better signal and it would stop any ingress. I do not believe this simply because I have tried to do this and I see no difference in the noise floor. I have read where in deed you should terminate unused ports on systems with hundreds of channels but for this system, I don't believe there is enough energy on the lines to even affect it. It would be very time consuming to terminate these taps and in some places hard to reach. Am I correct in this assumption that terminating these unused ports is not going to help at all?
