At midnight of 1st January 2018, DirecTV abolished NewsCenter1 (KNBN TV), the NBC alliance Black Hills, the premier home of Super Bowl LI, the latest Winter Olympic Games 2018 and MyNetwork programs from the channel lines of its customers in the region.
According to some sources, KNBN TV which is the only locally owned media outlet in the area was actively negotiating with DirecTV in order to renew the contract but failed to reach a mutual agreement before the expiry date of the contract.
DirecTV is still negotiating with NewsCenter1 in order to restore the channel but until then the management of NewsCenter1 would like their audience to know that they can continue to watch NewsCenter1 programs over the air with the help of an antenna or by visiting their website.
