I have had Direct for 15 yrs. It has been rather interesing. I had an original 3 lnb Sony dish hitting abc sat. An mpeg2 HD. Then they went to mpeg4 and obsoleted two 1000.00 boxes I had paid for. I went two SD. I added a 12 receiver purchased at full price and a hr20 that I bought at 549.00 outright. I kept using my Panasonic TUHDS20 in SD mode. When their egghead teenage contractor installed a third room in 2011, the kid destroyed my Sony elliptical dish. They did not have a new round dish, so they slapped on a BENT removed dish. Had to go plain loudly to get new dish installed. Then for last three yrs. Weird behavior especially with TUHDS20. replaced access cards, replaced coax (oil jacketed buried rg6 in yard was left untouched). Kept getting 771 and mem crashing TUHDS20. Finally, bought signal meter and looked at dish alignment. The ace contractor had not realigned the new round dish to new azimuth for round dish. Also the TUHDS20 had to literally be left unplugged ten hours. No reset switch, and apparently there must be some caps that take awhile to drain. The TUHDS20 was still stuck in abc sat mode. I finally got it to accept a round dish in setup. And my issue is gone. I readjusted dish to correct settings or round dish and everything works. My question is do you adjust or highest strength on middle transponder which is 97 or do I adjust to max. On 1 which is currently 85. 18 and 28 appear not to be active. Direct tv has stupid support. Even at level two. They don't understand basic sat installation. They can't tell you what channels on what transponder. They give you a canned response off their screens and if your question does not fit their menu God help you. And they are generally obnoxious. What has happened to the quality tech support of ten yrs.ago. And, now offshore call suppor. So, here is where I need help. Do you peak the dish on transponder 16 on sat a? Min. I am getting is 85, max 97. I have clear line of sight. Manual position is aligned. Ground mount. Not swm. And why did installer if you can call him that steal my orig. INLINE sat amps from 15 yrs ago?
