The dish installer is coming tomorrow, but I went ahead and hooked up the two SWM 16s and also the splitters in the attic for 32 outputs.
The SIM01 tester (basic blue tester from DirecTV) I'm using is giving inconsistent results. It will light the CH5 light on a run that is about 60-70 feet without any splitters (its brand new RG6 Quad Shield cable with PPC compression connectors).
Is this happening because there isn't a dish being powered or signal coming into the SWM 16s? Does the SWM 16 have Automatic Gain Control (AGC) and if so, when does it kick in? Right now, its obviously getting 0 input.
When I use small patch cable at the SWM 16s, the test meter (blue) lights up everything correctly (including CH8).
Please advise.
