I'm assisting my boss with DirecTV at his vacation home. I ordered the equipment (partially) last week but the earliest date that an installer can be there is later than I wanted. I asked for Thur or Fri of this week. But they said the best they can do is June 10th.
I then spoke to their installation order service (877 244 8906), and was told the same thing. He added a note to my account that I'd prefer May 30/31. He said that I don't need to call them every day to see if a time slot opened up - DirecTV will call me. Is that true? He explained that part of the backlog is due to the installers for 65049 not working all 3 shifts (8a-12p, 12p-4p, 4p-8p). The other option that he offered was to cancel the order.
Do you have any tips I might try to get an installation date that accommodates me? This vacation home is 4 hrs away and I don't always know in advance when I'll be there.

As to "partially", I wanted (1) Genie, (7) Genie clients, and (4) HD Receivers. But due to the "6 receiver" limit, I'm only slated to get the Genie and 5 clients. I'm told that after installation, I need to call to activate more receivers. And a tech can come out to install them, or I may be able to do it myself. This "6" policy is annoying, and I view it as contrived. Also, if the Tech has to come out again for some reason, and if the vacation home is 4 hrs away, and if I'm not certain in advance when I'll be there ... whewww, they are not making it easy. I ask the rhetorical question "Why can't a supervisor authorize me to order the receivers that I want?"
I was given 3 free months of certain programming; I have to call to cancel those. I asked if I can call now to cancel them, after all I already know that I don't want them. But, alas, I was told that I have to wait until the system is activated before I can cancel them. I was a little annoyed that I have to work to get rid of that what I never requested nor wanted.
