direct tv receiver activation

I purchased a direct tv receiver from solid signal. I want to activate it myself. Can I do this? Or does a service rep have to come out to my house?
If direct tv wont do it, will solid signal activate the receiver for me?
In one of your forums I saw a post which indicated you will activate it for me.
