I'm switching antenna setups and am having trouble with the VHF-high. My area code is 22153 and all the channels I care about are about 16 miles away in the same direction. Fox and NBC are UHF. ABC and CBS are VHF-high (channels 7 and 9).
Current setup:
Using a Mohu leaf (30 mile version) taped to the inside of the sliding glass door near the TV. Specs online suggest 10 mile VHF range. Roughly 15' RG6 cable. We get the UHF channels. CBS (channel 9) comes in fine, but we struggle with ABC (channel 7) in the summer when there are leaves on the trees.
New setup:
Clearstream 2V mounted on the roof (about 10' higher than the current setup and 15' to the side). 60 mile UHF rating for clear line of sight, but I didn't find specs for VHF. Pointed in the same direction, toward the towers. 100' RG6 cable, so I know I'm getting a lot more signal attenuation through the longer cable. We get more UHF channels than current setup, but get nothing on VHF-high (channels 7 and 9) at all, which surprises me.
Does it seem strange that I'm not getting the VHF-high channels? What steps should I take to get the VHF-high? Shorter coax? I need approximately a 65' run to get from the mounting position to the TV, so I'd have to cut the current cable or use two cables. Get the Clearstream 2V up higher? I could get it up probably 15' higher, but current spot was chosen because of existing mounting post. Is it possible that the VHF dipoles could be faulty and have a break in the connection?
Thanks,
Tyler
