Just had solar installed at the house so had to move some of my directv stuff off the wall in the garage for the install. So I was putting stuff back in service after the solar was finished being installed and I wanted to clean up some wiring and eliminate the coax cable that was used to inject the ethernet into the splitter. The theory I had was that I could take the RG6 line coming from my DECA 2 and hook into the port on my power inserter that says "TO IRD". This eliminates one wire through the wall to the splitter. I was putting split loom over all the wires including the fiberoptic to ONT and I couldnt fit it over all of them so thats why i was looking to eliminate this line.
So I did this and the network light lit up on the DECA. I was stoked! I have 3 Apple routers in the house and they all showed up on the apple airport utility when I checked and my kid said that the internet was good. During this time I was unplugging stuff and reconfiguring it, my son came in and said the directv and internet was off. After hooking this up I went back in the house and asked if it was working he said yes. Well what I didnt ask was if the Directv was working. I finished up late last night after kids and wife were asleep. Went to work today and now getting asked why the Directv isnt working. Had wife go to the the HR54 and it says there is a problem communicating with satellite. When I log on to Directv is says they are all connected to the internet. Is the DECA causing this? Im on a 24 hour shift. Not that its a crisis I can put it back the way it was in the morning but just curious why this would cause an issue. If I put a splitter in the line can I put the power inserter on the power pass through one and put the deca on the other and then still have one line pass through the wall?
Any help appreciated.
