This will be long winded please bear with me.
I have had comcast for about 3 years and I am just tired of the run around, so i decided it was time to get direct tv (i kept comcast for internet). The installer came out and hooked everything up, I was excited I had read how good the image quality was. I am pretty much a tech head.. I have brand new 70" vizios from last christmas. They are 1080p tvs, they look fantastic on blue ray, the looked awesome on comcast.
They look terrible on Directv. I have HR44 installed and 3 smaller units. All pictures are blurry, blothcy, fuzzy, whatever you want to call it... it looks like netflix looks when i am wifi streaming it through my xbox. Imagin a black wall on the screen, it will have 5 different hues of black and they are blotched. I am expecting that HD 1080i picture that i had with comcast, that pops on the screen. Is that possible? It seems like it should be....all HD channels look terrible although admittedly a few look slightly better than others.
I have verified the display settings are all set properly with tech support, I am selected to the proper resolutions, I have gone through every iteration of resolution selections possible, to no avail. I am using HDMI cables. It just looks like the image isnt streaming cleanly from the satellite.
I checked the signal strengths they are all over 95 and in the green.
What would be causing these blotches, I already have another tech scheduled for tomorrow but I am unconvinced the typical tech in my area routinely sees a client with my high degree of expectations. I am ready to tell them they can have this stuff, I have 30 days to do so and as of right now, I am sorry to say comcast is looking better by the moment. I ONDEMANDed Game of Thrones and it looked ridiculously bad. I dont know what to do and am hoping someone on here will be able to lead me in the right direction, I really dont want this to go on for 3-4 weeks before i have no choice but return to the evil of comcast. I mean HULU and my xbox would look better than this...
Am I expecting too much? please help,
Also maybe worth noting that on the unit furthest from the HR44 the screen hangs for a sec goes white and seems to take long time to "hook up" on simple channel changes...this tv is identical to the other 70' and it doesnt do that.
