Samsung RVU user experience (hopefully from a super-user)

I'm starting whole-home A/V 2.0. I currently switch component video and control with RS232 and IP.

My needs are relatively simple. 4K, 4K up-conversion, the most popular streaming apps. I need to buy all new TVs as well.

I was curious about RVU for DirecTV, specifically Samsung RVU. How is the experience? Is it fast? Does it support everything?

I've heard that the Samsung RVU is a third-party app. Is the developer and Samsung (and DirecTV) committed to this direction in the future.
