Long time reader, new poster. Like many others, I made the RVU discovery lately and I immediately thought of how useful it could be. I have a HR44 Genie in my family room and a 2012 Samsung Smart TV in my master (model # UN46ES6500). I used to have another DirecTV box on that TV a couple years ago, but downgraded to lower my monthly costs at the time. After days of research, I was able to get the TV added to the Genie as a client.
My home has a smartbox and every room is hardwired for ethernet. The Genie and the Samsung are both ethernet connected to my router (via a switch), which is a newer ASUS wireless router. At first, I did receive a MoCA error, so I wired up my Cinema Connection Kit in the smart box to the main splitter, and got past that error. Next error was that the Samsung wasn't authorized. After an hour on the phone with DirecTV, I finally reached a supervisor who was able to add the TV to my account @ $6.50/mo. Immediately after it was added, I was able to name the TV and program the Genie Remote (I use a harmony on the family room TV).
Now, I have an issue I am not able to figure out: When I switch to the RVU source on the Samsung, it shows the DirecTV User Interface for about 2 seconds and then disappears. Immediately after, the Samsung shows a message box on a black background, with the text: "Internet is not connected. Check the network status to ensure that you can use this service."
I have checked the network status on both the Genie and the Samsung several times, and it connects fine. The first time I ran into this, I did a firmware update on the Samsung, and it downloaded quickly and installed with no issues. So I know the TV has a good network connection. To be safe, I also power cycled the router and the Genie. No luck.
