Receiver vs. Client vs. RVU

Looking for advice on direction and experience:

My old config was 3 HR24s running through an Elan component matrix switch to 1st gen plasma displays at 1080i. 4 video zones.

I'm replacing all my video zones with lower end 4K displays (Samsung, Sony or Vizio). Sony is looking like the winner.

I replaced one of my HR24s with a HR34 so I could test MoCA, RVU and clients. I have a powered DECA 2 installed as my bridge stand alone on my 1 to 8 splitter. I also have the power inserter installed on my splitter as well.

Here are my questions/observations. RVU works fine but is sluggish. And the start up sequence seems long. I've run it over both MoCA with a DECA3 (USB powered) and straight GigE. Ethernet and MoCA perform very similar. Both show a little artifacting in the beginning but this goes away after a minute or so. (BTW: USB powered DECA was ugly for me because for whatever reason Samsung powers down its USB ports in stand-by.)

I then purchased a C41K Client. I didn't experience the slow initial start up, but the UI was still a little sluggish. I would say about the same as with RVU.

My questions?

1) was I just spoiled with the responsiveness of the receivers? Should I just use H24s instead of clients?

2) My HR34-700 has been sluggish itself for the last few months (not as bad as the clients), I've checked the firmware version and run CLEARMYBOX a few time which seems to help for a couple days to a week. Could my HR34 be on its last legs and that is why the clients and RVU are sluggish. Should I upgrade to the HR54 as my server? Some of what I've read seems to indicate there is a significant processing difference between the 2 boxes.

I'm already leaning toward clients over RVU simply because I don't want depend on a TV manufacturer for hardware and/or software upgrades. Alliances come and go...

Should I upgrade to the HR54 and do my testing again? The UI lag and slow start up a real problem for me.

I have plenty of coax, Cat6 and power to each zone location so none of that infrastructure is a concern to me.

I would be interested in your opinions and/or similar experiences.

Best regards,

p.s. (has anyone found a universal remote that supports RF4CE? I need a candy bar remote for guest bedroom simplicity...)
